The Sales Organisation

The Sales Organisation comprises two groups, each responsible for certain areas of the world. An exception to the geographical split of responsibility is made for Corporate customers with operations in more than one country. In addition, one Sales Manager is responsible for the Emhart Glass forehearth products (now supplied by SORG) worldwide.

Group 1 covers Western Europe, the USA, Asia and Africa, and is headed by Alexander Sorg. Josef Scherg is responsible for Group 2, which covers Russia, the CIS States, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. This group also handles the Emhart Glass forehearth programme.

Alexander Sorg represents the 5th generation of the SORG family to be involved in the Company management. In addition to his responsibilities as a Managing Partner Alexander now heads Sales Group 1.

Josef Scherg

Sales Director – Group 2

Josef has been with SORG for more than 40 years, and he has been involved in sales since 1975. As Sales Director of Area 2 he is in charge of all sales and project management functions for Russia, the States of the former Soviet Union, South Eastern Europe and the Middle East. He also has overall responsibility for the Sales of the Emhart Glass forehearth products that are now supplied by SORG.

Sales Group 1

Udo Doench

Sales Manager – Asia and sub-Saharan Africa

A graduate of the renowned Glasfachschule in Zwiesel, Germany, Udo joined SORG in 1974 and worked initially as a project manager for automatic stemware production lines. He moved to the sales team in 1978, and is now responsible for the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, the Indian sub-continent and Asia.

Benno Krottenthaler

Sales Manager – German-speaking countries

Benno was born in Zwiesel, one of the traditional glassmaking areas of Germany, and is another graduate of the famous Glasfachschule situated in that town. He joined SORG in 1999 after having gained extensive experience of both furnace design and project management in the glass industry. He is responsible for sales in Germany, the German-speaking countries and most Northern European countries.

Herbert Lutz

Sales Manager – Southern Europe, Middle and South America

Another long serving member of the staff, Herbert has been with SORG since 1968. He joined as an apprentice in the drawing office, and graduated to the sales team in 1974. His knowledge of English, French and Spanish eases communication in many of the countries that he regularly visits.

Andreas Schneck

Sales Manager – Central Europe and USA

Andreas comes from a glassmaking family and has strong connections with the world-famous Eisch glass factory at Frauenau in Germany. After leaving university he first spent 2 years working in the SORG furnace department before joining Eisch. In 2005 he moved back to SORG as Purchasing Manager. He is working alongside Benno Krottenthaler in Europe, particularly in the non-German-speaking countries.

Walter Zenker

Sales Manager – France and North Africa

Long standing family connections with France have provided Walter with an extensive knowledge of both the country and the language. Both of these are of immeasurable value in his dealings with the glass manufacturing industries in France and North Africa, which he visits regularly.

Sales Group 2

Matthias Haas

Sales Manager – Emhart Glass forehearth products

He is an electrical engineer by trade and in the past he has worked in a number of the technical departments at SORG, including the Glass Conditioning Department. His move to the sales organisation in 2006 coincided with the transfer of the Emhart Glass forehearth programme to SORG, and in view of his previous experience in the glass conditioning field he was the logical choice for the new position of Sales Manager of these systems.

Goran Jugovic

Sales Manager – Russia and CIS States

Goran was born in Croatia, which was part of the federal state of Yugoslavia at the time. He joined the SORG sales organisation in 1989, and has been travelling in Eastern Europe ever since. He appears to speak all European languages to be found east of Lohr.

Ali Tarkian

Sales Manager – Middle East

Ali joined SORG in 1989 and worked for a time as a draughtsman in the design office. In 1995 he joined the sales team, and has been responsible for the UK and US markets and special projects. At the beginning of 2008 he took over the position of Sales Manager for the Middle East.
