THAILAND - Bangkok Glass expands again
The second Bangkok Glass factory, in Rayong Province 220 km south east of Bangkok now operates three furnaces. The latest addition, commissioned in the first quarter of 2005, is a further large end-fired regenerative furnace with a melting area of 117 m² and a maximum melting capacity of 400 t/24 h. The furnace feeds a SORG STW working end and four STF forehearths.
The installation produces mainly beer bottles for the Boon Rawd Brewery, majority owners of Bangkok Glass.
The new furnace is the ninth SORG-designed furnace to be built by BGI, and the fourth large end-fired furnace with a melting area larger than 100 m². Two of the large furnaces are situated at the original factory at Rangsit on the outskirts of Bangkok, with the other two in the second factory in Klaeng.
Bangkok Glass is now the largest container producer in Thailand, with a total of 8 furnaces in operation in the two factories.
