SORG Polska (SPL) has completed hot repair works on Furnace No. 1 at the Stoelzle Częstochowa glass plant in Poland.

After several months of preparation, SPL worked in close cooperation with the Stoelzle Częstochowa team to carry out the draining of the furnace and execute the repair project.

The hot repair is intended to extend the operational life of the furnace by several years.

The scope of work included draining, furnace bottom repair, overcoating, replacement of the working end and forehearth, cleaning of the chambers and electrode replacement, as well as heating and refilling of the furnace.

Over 120 SPL employees and subcontractors were involved in the project and, despite a tight 17-day, glass-to-glass schedule, the team completed the project a full day early.

With the work executed safely and in line with the client’s expectations too, the project has been a clear success, strengthening the relationship between SORG Polska and the Stoelzle Glass Group for the future.
