SORG: Furnace at Shanghai Sediver Glass successfully commissioned following reconstruction

In 2015, SORG designed and built for Shanghai Sediver Glass Co. Ltd, China a regenerative endport furnace with two forehearths for high-quality glass, for the production of high-voltage insulators.

The furnace was now due for reconstruction. In view of the performance of the furnace and the glass conditioning process, the installation was rebuilt and partially optimized, particularly the size of regenerators was designed new with increased capacity.

The pull of the furnace, originally planned at 110 tpd, was increased to 130 tpd and a third production line was added. The forehearth for this line was designed and supplied by SORG and is of the SORG 240S+®.

As part of the furnace reconstruction, SORG designed and supplied the necessary equipment components, such as the reversal system and electrode holders. For glass conditioning, SORG supplied air/gas stations, gas supply station and combustion air fans.

The SCADA system was adapted to the modified plant configuration.

The furnace reconstruction took 70 days from glass to glass and was carried out under SORG’s supervision.
