RECUPERATIVE END‐FIRED FURNACES

The single doghouse is located on a side wall, immediately next to the rear wall.

The burners are located on the furnace rear wall, with the waste gas port immediately above. The burner flame travels through the furnace, turns upwards and back to exhaust above the burners. The flame path created has the shape of a vertical “U”.

Combustion air is then preheated with a recuperator, providing stable heating without the flame/waste gas path reversal necessary with regenerative systems. Most recuperative furnaces use steel recuperators, like double shells or tube basket recuperators, which are always installed vertically.
